As the owner/founder of EmpowerMind Education and Consultation, LLC, I would like to officially welcome you to my site! My name is Dr. Tiana Kelly, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor-turned-Passionate Educator. I'm on a mission to empower minds and enrich lives through quality education services!

The Start of EmpowerMind Education and Consultation, LLC

Throughout my life, I have had a passion for learning and teaching others. It should come as no surprise then that, as a very young child, my vision was to become a teacher. As I neared college-age, however, my career aspirations shifted from educator to healthcare provider. I vacillated between human and animal healthcare and ultimately chose to pursue a path that would lead me to become a mental health counselor. It only took a few short years in the field, however, before my career visions shifted once more, encouraging me to move away from being a reactive treatment provider and toward a proactive health promoter. It was then that I decided to pursue a Doctor of Social Science in Prevention Science Degree. In gaining this degree, I immersed myself in the world of prevention and studied topics such as veterinary suicide prevention, dog bite prevention, interpersonal and animal violence prevention, as well as trauma and resilience, among others.

Upon completion of my doctorate degree in December 2022, the questions came flooding in. "What will you do next?" "Will you change jobs?" "How does this degree relate to what you do now?" For two months, the answers to all of these questions were the same: "I don't know." I

spent weeks pouring over these questions, with fear and uncertainty about my future career incessantly on my mind.

Fast forward to February 2023, and the idea of EmpowerMind Education and Consultation, LLC was born! After weeks of clarity-seeking, I narrowed my focus and identified that the next career move for me would be that of an educator. I hopped on LinkedIn and Indeed, browsing related job openings with a fine-toothed comb. It didn't take long to discover, however, that my ideal job at a livable wage might not be out there. As someone who lives by empowerment, I did what I do best. I made my own opportunity! I got right to work researching business development, consulting with other small business owners, garnering the support of a business consultant, and the list goes on. By mid-April, I was officially the owner/founder of my Pennsylvania-based small business!

What's in a Name?

As I'm sure you can imagine, a large part of the business development process was deciding on a name. I was first introduced to the term empowerment in 2017 as a counseling intern. With its heavy influence not only on my approach to counseling others, but also in the way I lead my day-to-day life, I knew my business had to similarly embody empowerment.

One night, my partner and I started brainstorming. We sat together on the couch, throwing out random, yet meaningful words until we found what stuck. You can imagine us saying, "What about 'Empower through Brainpower?'" Nope. "Lock and Key?" Definitely not. "Upskill?" Pretty cool, but that wasn't it. "TeachAble?" Getting closer. Then he asks, "How about 'EmpowerMind?'" Bingo! It, of course, needed some refining with an attorney to ensure it would be an approved name for an LLC, but it was a perfect start. The name, EmpowerMind Education and Consultation, LLC, grew to eloquently capture my personal and professional value of empowerment as well as my vision of helping others learn!

Services

The launch of this small business marks the beginning of a new career trajectory for me. While I will continue to serve in some capacity as a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am leaning into my lifelong dream of being an educator.

My services will be rolled out using a phased approach, with current offerings including speaking engagements/trainings as well as proofreading and editing. Future services will be expanded to include clinical supervision for Pennsylvania-based Licensed Professional Counselor candidates as well as eLearning courses.

Speaking Engagements

Within the scope of my training and experience, I provide evidence-based, research-informed, and scholarly speaking engagements/trainings on a variety of mental health and wellness topics.

My trainings are tailorable to meet the unique needs of each audience and

have wide applicability to mental and physical healthcare providers, veterinary professionals, community and student groups, schools, and business seeking to invest in employee health and wellness.

While each speaking engagement can be customized, popular sample topics include self-care for caregivers, prevention as a pathway toward health, assistance vs. emotional support vs. therapy animals, trauma, adverse childhood experiences, compassion fatigue and burnout prevention, veterinary wellness and suicide prevention, animal-assisted interventions, and more! Trainings are offered in a variety of formats, including standard presentations, roundtable discussions, seminars, and workshops.

Proofreading and APA Editing Services

Educating and inspiring others to lead mentally healthy, enriching lives is just one piece of my larger mission! As an experienced writer and editor, I also provide proofreading and editing services for students, professionals, and businesses seeking to fine-tune their writing skills, polish their documents, and get published! Examples of documents I review include dissertations, manuscripts, theses, business policies and procedures manuals, et cetera. While my editing services focus on areas such as error correction, assessing word choice, and enhancing overall readability, my proofreading addresses grammar, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and formatting.

Clinical Supervision for Licensed Professional Counselor Candidates

During the second phase of my business rollout, services will be expanded to include virtual clinical supervision for Licensed Professional Counselor candidates based in the State of Pennsylvania. Supervision will be offered virtually in both group and individual formats. This service is tentatively slated to begin in Spring 2024.

Online Mental Health and Wellness Courses

If you're like me, you're always interested in and looking for new online courses! Tentatively scheduled for Spring 2024, it is my hope that we all won't have to look any farther than EmpowerMind Education and Consultation, LLC!
